This calculation was done to check the minimum thickness of the road deck under the full 20 kg distributed loading. Idealizing the distributed loading to a point loading from a simply support cantilever beam the minimum thickness was found to be 0.0026 mm. The minimum available thickness for sheets of wood was 1/32 inch, so that was what was used in the design.
